The person

Steve has been shipping software for over twenty years, the last ten leading engineering, product and design. For the last two he's been heads-down with AI: Claude in the editor, Claude Code in the terminal, agents stitched into the day-to-day. Shipsmith is how he does that now, embedded with one or two teams at a time, so every engagement gets senior attention rather than an account manager. More about Steve at south.dev.

The offer

Two levels of the same engagement, both month to month. Advisory is around a day a week as your senior technical voice: a weekly working session, architecture and code review, and vendor and build-vs-buy judgement. Embedded is around two days a week inside your team's flow: hands-on building in your repo, code, tooling, and team training, plus a weekly architecture call.

Clients own everything shipped. All code lives in their repo under their license, NDAs are signed before any access, and there's no long-term commitment: engagements run a month at a time for as long as they're useful.
