Shipsmith (shipsmith.dev) is operated by Stephen South in the United Kingdom. This page explains what data the site handles and what happens to it. The short version: the site sets no cookies, runs no ad tracking, and keeps no database of visitors.

What we collect, and why

The AI assessment form. If you submit the free assessment, you give us your name, email address, optionally your company and website, your answers to the multiple-choice questions, and anything you write in the free-text box. We use this to generate your assessment and to follow up with you personally. Two processors are involved: Anthropic (which generates the written assessment from your answers) and Resend (which delivers the emails). Submissions are kept as email, and there is no separate database.

Booking a call. Calls are booked through Cal.com, which has its own privacy policy. Your booking lands in our calendar with the details you enter.

Hosting and analytics. The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs and provides aggregate, cookieless analytics (page views and country, with no individual profiles).

Email. If you email us directly, we keep the correspondence for as long as it is useful for working together.

Advertising. We measure which of our adverts lead to enquiries. This happens from our server and adds no cookies or tracking scripts to the site.

This site sets none.

Legal basis and retention

We process assessment submissions and emails on the basis of legitimate interest: you sent them to us so we could respond. We keep them for as long as a working relationship is live or plausible, and delete them on request.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email steve@shipsmith.dev and it will be handled within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the ICO.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted here plainly.
